Bio

Strange, Heavy, Ugly, and Beautiful: the music of SNOOKY is a cryptic mix. With their always-evolving, unique brand of heavy alternative rock, SNOOKY flashes between metal, jazz, punk, funk, pop, ska, Latin, and ALL rock styles; compiling a sound truly based on a commitment to music, not genre. Their 4 independent releases (2000’s POOK, ‘02’s strange.heavy.ugly.beautiful., ‘04’s untitled, and ‘06’s OF NOTHING) have prompted numerous press reviews, complementing the dichotomous nature of their sound, and their affinity for mixing brutal with delicate; catchy with bizarre. With a stage show that blends dedication and intensity with humor and crowd interaction, SNOOKY have played all around the Midwest, since forming in 1999. In addition to gigging in over 50 of Wisconsin’s various clubs (including appearances at Madison and Milwaukee's largest venues such as The Rave, The Annex & The Globe), SNOOKY have made frequent trips out of state, even hitting such big markets as Chicago and Detroit. Over the years SNOOKY have shared stages with many top acts, such as Clutch, Cheap Trick, Chevelle, Tommy Lee, Hed (PE), Vision of Disorder, Theory of a Deadman, Murphy’s Law, and Dog Fashion Disco. SNOOKY were voted Best Heavy Metal/Hard Rock Group of 2001 by the Racine Area Music Industry Talent Awards and won the Spring Rock Fest battle of the bands in 2002. SNOOKY have been invited to numerous high-profile music festivals, including Summerfest in 2001, ‘02, ’03 &’04, and Chicago's Mobfest 2K2 national music showcase. Their music has racked up decent rotation on Wisconsin’s top rock stations, such as Milwaukee’s 102.1 WLUM & Lazer 103, as well as Detroit’s 89X, Madison’s 94.1 WJJO (which has featured SNOOKY as “Regional Band of the Week” numerous times), and countless College stations around the Midwest. SNOOKY’s music has also been featured in the “listening groups” at South By Southwest (SXSW), the world’s most prestigious music showcase. With a recently re-invigorated line-up bringing a musical re-birth to SNOOKY, expect only fresh, new sounds as they continue to spread their music further than ever before.
